How an Obi-Wan Kenobi film could save Star Wars

Star Wars is in a bad way. Ever since Disney took control from Lucasfilm the franchise has succumbed to poor creative decisions, leading to mediocre storytelling in unnecessary films. The so-called Sequel Trilogy is nothing more than a poor remake of the Original Trilogy, Rogue One is a film that nobody needed to see to know what happens, and the recent Han Solo film is something that nobody asked for, and judging by poor box office performance, nobody cared about.
Now there is talk of a new trilogy that will begin production once the Sequel Trilogy has been concluded (with a remake of Return of the Jedi), and it seems as though there is no end to Disney’s Star Wars release schedule. But it has to stop. They’re going to kill Star Wars.
Although, there is a man who could save it.

Ever since the Prequel Trilogy ended with Revenge of the Sith in 2005, fans have been longing for an Obi-Wan Kenobi starring Ewan McGregor, set in the years before A New Hope takes place. Generally considered to be the best part of the Prequel Trilogy, McGregor himself has said numerous times that he would be delighted to return to the franchise as Obi-Wan, and we would love to see it!

The film itself would surely be a hit for Disney if they went with the dark themes that surrounded the end of Revenge of the Sith. Obi-Wan on the run from the ever growing Empire, trying to track down any possible surviving Jedi, whilst keeping an eye on Luke on Tatooine. Darth Vader could make a prominent appearance, hunting Obi-Wan to try and get revenge on him for, in Vader's eyes, killing Padmé, which could culminate in one final showdown between the former friends, before Obi-Wan goes into hiding completely.

It basically writes itself! Even the obvious title of simply "Kenobi" sounds brilliant, as long as they drop the "A Star Wars Story" subtitle from recent spin off films. The subtitle is unnecessary in my opinion.

This is the Star Wars film the fans want to see, not a new set of trilogies that tarnish a legacy of films that are so important to so many people.

Maybe one day, Kenobi will save Star Wars.

Microtransactions in Middle Earth: Shadow of War - A Defence

Middle Earth: Shadow of War was released last year in the midst of a brewing argument. Microtransactions in gaming. Star Wars Battlefront II was at the forefront of criticism from gamers regarding the way microtransactions were implemented. Locking the better content behind them, the gambling nature of the lootboxes meaning that you weren't assured to get what you wanted and had paid real money for, and so on. This criticism was completely justified. What isn't justified in my opinion however, is how Shadow of War got lumped in with other AAA games as microtransaction heavy, and I saw many people boycott the game because of this. Which is simply incorrect. Now I am not a supporter of microtransactions, not at all. I would prefer if developers made games that were just games. You pay your £50 for a game and that's it. No content locked behind in game purchases designed to keep you putting your hand in your pocket over and over. That is undoubtedly a bad thing, and Shadow ...

Driver: San Francisco - Trailer Remix

This game is one of my all time favourites from my all time favourite series of games - Driver: San Francisco. In the original teaser trailer, there is no music accompanying what is happening on screen, so this was the perfect project for me to add some music to it. The trailer itself is really good and references the first game in the Driver series from 1999, and I have attempted to replicate this with the choices of audio I have used. The first song I use is the main theme from Driver: San Francisco, the track that plays on the menu screen of the game. This transitions into the theme song from the original Driver game at 00:24 when the wheelspin occurs, and I am really happy with how smooth this transition is. The transition from new song to old song mirrors what is happening in the video, the car starts off as a Ford Mustang, the car used in the original game, into a Dodge Challenger, the new game's primary car. I feel that the use of music to augment this, though subtle, wo...

Batman: Arkham Knight's Red Hood Story DLC - Disturbing and Brilliant

Let me start out by saying that Arkham Knight is one of my favourite games released in the last 5 years. The story is absolutely amazing (much better than Arkham City in my opinion) and I would urge anyone who hasn't played it or was put off by reviews of uninspiring Batmobile gameplay, to pick up the game and play it. That said I want to talk specifically about the Red Hood DLC pack which was I believe a pre-order bonus at the time but is now readily available for everyone. Without giving too much away, Red Hood is a vigilante like Batman whose origin story develops throughout the main storyline of Arkham Knight, even though you may not realise it. However the main difference between the two vigilantes is that Batman does not kill. Red Hood on the other hand certainly holds no such ideals as we find out during this admittedly short, but fascinating DLC. The DLC takes place after the events of Arkham Knight as we see Red Hood attempt to locate Black Mask by infiltrating an ar...
